OUTSTANDING HIGH CONDITION U.S.M.C. M1952 MC-1 GARAND SNIPER RIFLE.SPRINGFIELDMC-52 GARAND330675430-06MODERN; C&RCal. 30-06. Outstanding specimen of the rare Springfield U.S. Marine Corps armorers modified sniper rifle, utilizing a Griffin & Howe scope mounting bracket with Stith/Kollmorgan model 4XD scope. This rifle has a January 1945, dated bbl marked "3 S A 1 45". Stock retains inspection cartouche "S.A." over "N.F.R." (Norman F. Ramsey) which is correct for this SN range. Mount and scope bear appropriate markings. Type 3 sear sight lock bar with square ends appropriate for rifles of this vintage. Bolt drawing number "D28286-19SA / 0-17". Unfinished stainless steel cross slot cylinder lock screw, wide sight platform. Scope bracket is marked "FSN1240-647-1107 MOUNT TELESCOPE GRIFFIN & HOWE, INC. U.S." Scope is marked at rear eye piece "TELESCOPE, RIFLE, 4XD, MC-1", "KOLLMORGAN OPTICAL CORP." with "U.S." and "FSN-1240-647-1106" on opposite side, adjustment knobs work perfectly and are marked with red textile marker at the current setting indicating somebody wanted to retain their personalized settings. This rifle includes and orig leather sling and set of rubber lens cap protectors. PROVENANCE: From High Condition Collection of Discerning U.S. Military Rifle Collector, Offered Without Reserve. CONDITION: Simply outstanding condition overall. Over 98% orig gray/green finish with dark blue lustrous finish on scope and lower bracket. Wood is attractive dark brown color with only some light handling marks. Optics are absolutely clear. Bore is outstanding, shiny and bright. Sling is soft, supple and completely serviceable with hints of green verdigris at brass attachment points. This specimen would be pretty much impossible to upgrade.
