BOSS SIDELOCK EJECTOR SINGLE TRIGGER HEAVY PROOF 3" GAME GUN WITH CASE.BOSSSXS758212GAMODERN; C&R(ca 1928) Cal. 12 ga. 3" Chambers. 30" Chopper lump bbls are fitted with Briley choke tubes, and are engraved "Boss & Co 13 Dover Street, Piccadilly, London England" on swamped, narrow, game rib. Bbl flats are stamped with London nitro proofs for 1-1/2 oz of shot and 3" chambers. SNs are on bottoms of bbls. Case hardened sidelock action is stocked to the fences, and features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), bushed strikers, gold line tumbler end cocking indicators, and Boss's single non-selective trigger. Action is engraved with exceptionally well cut full coverage Boss house style small scroll with 21 rose bouquets, as done by noted engraver, Jack Sumner. Single beaded small bow trigger guard with large open scroll on bow, has SN on tang which extends to small hard rubber grip cap. Dark, smoky marbled and lightly stump figured European walnut capped "Prince of Wales" grip buttstock measures 14-3/4" over checkered wood butt, and features classic drop points, point pattern checkering with mullered borders that wraps over top of grip, and vacant gold oval on toe line. Short beavertail forend with Anson release is fitted with Boss's excellent ejector system. Bore diameter: left -.729, right - .728. Bore restrictions: Screw chokes. Wall thickness: left - .030, right - .030. Drop at heel: 2-1/4", drop at comb: 1-5/8". Cast: approx 3/8" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 6 oz. LOP: 14-3/4". Tan leather case with stitched leather corners by Brady is embossed "P. A. F." on top, is lined in burgundy cloth with Boss Cork Street label in lid, and charge card numbered to this gun specifying Briley chokes in right bbl, with half choke in left (both bbls presently have Briley chokes). Case contains four Briley thin wall choke tubes with wrench, as well as Boss marked square oil bottle, and a pair of snap caps. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refurbished. Bbls retain essentially all of a fine London quality re-blue. Action retains approx 70% orig case hardening color, silvered on fences and beads. Lockplates retain approx 95% of their orig color. Buttstock retains nearly all of a well done hand rubbed oil refinish, checkering lightly freshened. Newly made forend wood retains nearly all of its orig finish matching that on buttstock. Checkering does not match in spacing or borders. Bores are excellent. Action is tight. Bbls are on face. Ejectors are strong and in time. Trigger works. Case is excellent, with a couple of minor scuffs. Interior cloth shows some compressions and light soiling. A superb "best" period Boss, with unusual 3" orig chambering. 51085-2 MGM292 (18,000-28,000)
