EXCEPTIONALLY FINE LEBEAU-COURALLY 20 BORE "HOLLAND MODEL WASHINGTON" SIDELOCK EJECTOR GAME GUN WITH SUPERB HIGH RELIEF ACANTHUS SCROLL ENGRAVING BY LOVENBERG WITH CASE. LEBEAU COURALLY SXS WASHINGTON 44660 20 GA MODERN (1983) Cal. 20 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. Although not a household name, Lebeau-Courally is recognized by fine gun aficionados to be among the highest order of gunmakers. This fine example of the gunmakers art has chopper lump 27" bbls with concave matted rib. Top of right bbl is engraved "AUG. LEBEAU COURALLY". Left side is engraved "FAIT POUR W. L. MOORE ET CO WESTLAKE, VLG CA". Bbl flats are stamped with 1983 Belgian nitro proofs, and makers name and address. Small sized, coin finished, round bodied action features non-automatic safety (S inlaid in gold), gold plated tumbler ends and other internals, and dbl triggers (front articulated) with finger blades temper blued. Action and lockplates are engraved with full coverage truly exceptional relief carved large open scrolling acanthus with floral terminations and highlights within some interlocking scroll borders. Backgrounds are completely cut away and nicely stippled. Fences are full relief carved with matching scrolling acanthus. Makers name is not visible on action or lockplates, but is stamped on water table. Lebeau-Courally logo is on breechface. Engraving theme continues onto trigger guard. This wonderful engraving is by Lovenberg, with signature on trigger plate. Finely marbled, and nicely figured flesh-toned European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 14-1/2" over checkered wood butt, and features fine borderless checkering on butt and grip, in classic outline within ogee scalloped borders. A vacant gold oval is on toe line. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release and inlet Lebeau-Courally crest in gold on uncheckered panel. Bore diameter: left -.623, right - .624. Bore restrictions: left - .012 (lt mod), right - .005 (IC). Drop at heel: 2-3/16", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 3/8" off. Weight: 5 lbs. 15 oz. LOP: 14-1/2". Light beige canvas case with stitched leather trim is lined in faun felt, and has black makers label in lid. Case contains proof certificate and test targets. PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, very close to new, with very little evidence of having been fired since proof, with only the faintest of firing halos on breechface, and one or two of the faintest of handling and assembly marks on all factory finishes on wood and metal. Mechanically crisp. Case is excellent, with some scuffs. Interior cloth is excellent. Current retail for this model is well over 50,000 euros.
