EXCEPTIONAL QUALITY LEBEAU COURALLY SIDEPLATED BOXLOCK EJECTOR HEAVY GAME GUN WITH WEBLEY SCREW GRIP ACTION. LEBEAY COURALLY SXS SIDEPLATED BLE 34507 12 GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 12 ga. 2-3/4" Chambers. Finely struck 28-1/2" dovetailed bbls fitted with narrow, matted, flat rib are engraved "The Webley - Lebeau - Courally" "Continental Firearms Co Ltd Liege - London" on tops. Bbl flats are stamped with Belgian nitro proofs for 2-3/4" chambers. Bottoms of bbls are stamped with SNs, steel type, and trademarks. Case hardened, sideplated, boxlock action features automatic safety (S inlaid in gold), side clips, Webley screw grip top fastener with information engraved on top lever, and dbl triggers. Action and sideplates are engraved with near full coverage exceptionally well cut medium shaded scroll surrounding vignettes of bird dogs on tails of lockplates and on trigger plate; an alert setter is on left, pointing setter on right, and a pair of setters, one standing, the other recumbent, on trigger plate. Fully scroll engraved trigger guard has SN on tang. Very finely marbled, and strikingly fiddle figured European walnut round knob semi-pistol grip buttstock measures 14-7/8" over brown leather covered pad. Nicely cut point pattern checkering is at grip, and a large vacant gold shield is inlet on top of grip behind tang. Matching splinter ejector forend has Anson release. Iron is marked with ejector patent no. "255". Bore diameter: left -.732, right - .730. Bore restrictions: left - .022 (mod), right - .011 (lt mod). Wall thickness: left - .026, right - .029. Drop at heel: 2-5/8", drop at comb: 1-7/16". Cast: approx 1/2" off. Weight: 7 lbs. 2 oz. LOP: 14-7/8". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent, as partially refinished. Bbls retain over 90% of what is possibly orig blue, with a number of scuffs and marks, some areas discolored to purple. Action and lockplates retain approx 80% of their orig color, fading on bottom, edges, and fences, but quite vivid where protected. Top lever is silvered on thumbpiece. Floorplate and trigger guard show considerable silvering to their orig blue. Stocks retain nearly all of a very fine quality hand rubbed oil finish, checkering beautifully re-cut. Pad is new. Bores are very fine, lightly frosted. Action is very slightly loose. Bbls are a bit off face. Ejectors are strong and in time. 50594-49 MGM220 (4,500-7,500)
