SUPERB AND SPORTY A.H. FOX CE GRADE 20 GAUGE SHOTGUN. FOX CE 200736 20 GA MODERN; C&R Cal. 20 ga. 2-5/8" chambers with 28" bbls. Full length matted rib with steel front bead. Top of right bbl marked "Krupp Fluid Steel Made by" left bbl marked "A.H. Fox Gun Co. Phila. PA.". Blued double triggers, automatic ejectors, non-automatic safety. Straight grip buttstock with checkered side panels and checkered in 2-pt pattern with straight grain through wrist and nice fiddle back that ends in modern aged Silvers type pad. Splinter forearm with Deeley type release checkered in 2-pt pattern and triangular ebony tip. Receiver is nicely engraved in typical C-grade pattern with quail on left, woodcock on right in game scene and marked "Ansley H. Fox" surrounded by light scroll work. Bottom of frame with setter in hills scene and trigger plate with circle of well cut scroll. Trigger guard bow with bursts of scroll and tang vine border engraved with SN noted. Bore diameter: left - .619, right - .617. Bore restrictions: left - .013 (mod), right - .008 (imp/cyl). Minimum wall thickness: left - .030, right - .030 . Weight: 6 lbs. 1 oz. Drop at comb: 1-7/16", drop at heel: 2-5/16". LOP: 14". PROVENANCE: Remarkable William Larkin Moore Private Estate Collection of Fine Sporting Arms. CONDITION: Excellent as expertly refurbished. Bbls retain nearly all of high quality, restored rust blue finish, having been shortened from their orig length of 30". Buttstock and forearm are exceptional as restored with only minute handling marks and retain virtually all of their crisp custom finish. Checkering is sharp. Receiver retains nearly all of its well done bone charcoal case colors. Top lever has been rust blued. Trigger guard retains nearly all of its restored blued finish, just starting to tone at tang. Mechanics are excellent. Bores are bright and shiny. Bbls are on-face. This lightweight Fox would make an outstanding fall hunting partner. 50594-15 JSL (5,750-9,000)
