RARE CONFEDERATE SWORD BELT.

Patent leather sword belt with mismatched "C.S." tongue and wreath belt buckle, both tongue and wreath have 48mm high keepers, tongue is unusual and not a pattern I have noted before, wreath appears from an officers buckle and the tongue has small non-serif letters not pictured in Mullinax, Gavin or Kerksis. Accompanying there is an additional loose standard Virginia style tongue. SIZE: PROVENANCE: Ex-Paul Sorrell Collection. CONDITION: Belt is resewn with added reinforced leather at site of wreath. Hangers are both intact though both broken and longer of two has tape repairs and is only held now by a few threads. Much crazing and scuffing. Loose tongue has darker patina. 50865-2 JS (2,000-4,000)
