ESA - PAIR OF SPANISH IVORY GRIPPED VICTORIAN ERA DOUBLE-EDGED DAGGERS.Two iron mounted, dbl-edged daggers with typical Spanish deep Victorian etching with gold backgrounds. Knife with smooth handle is marked "TOLEDO" & "1866" for date of manufacture. The other knife is probably later, circa 1880-1890, marked "FABRICA / DE / TOLEDO" and is fitted with an iron mounted brown leather scabbard with red felt washer so typical of English mounting on London made knives of same era. SIZE: CONDITION: Very good to fine overall.1866 knife has 7" blade and the other has 7-3/8" blade. The carved "certifiable antique" ivory grip on this knife has a large hairline on one side with an attempt to repair by injection of some glue. The 1866 dated knife also has a bright blade with much of the gold background intact with fine well patinaed smooth shaped "certifiable ivory" grip with Acanthus leaf carved bulbous pommel, orig red felt washer with a newer, replaced leather scabbard that originally would have been iron mounted like its mate. 51436-5 JS (800-1,250) ESA -
