PRUSSIAN GUARD'S FIELD ARTILLERY REGIMENT'S RESERVE OFFICER'S HELMET MODEL 1897.

Black lacquered leather helmet body with gilt brass trim. Leather body has excellent form and firm stitching. No extra holes in helmet body. Interior has sweat leather and silk head liner. Inner visors colored. Frontplate is the Prussian Guard's Regiment eagle without banner. Silver and enameled star of the Prussian black eagle order on eagle's breast. Below star is a small silver reserve cross. Spike base will ball top secured to helmet with star retainers. Rounded chinscales on rosettes. Officer's style Reichs and Prussian cockades. SIZE: PROVENANCE: Age Of Kings Militaria; The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent inside and out. Mild scratching to exterior finish. Fire gilding on metal plate about 80%. All other metal parts retain all fire gilding. Interior shows only minimal wear. 51586-21 RT (3,500-5,500)
