LOT OF TWO MAUSER P-38 PISTOLS 44 BYF & 43 BYF. MAUSER P38 6764g 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Marked "P.38", "byf/43" and SN on left side of slide. Eagle 135 inspected. Matching numbers on bbl, frame, slide, and magazine. First digit of SN appears to be a period overstamp on the slide, frame and bbl. Very dark Bakelite grips. This gun is explained on p. 21, pictured on p. 22 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II by Warren Buxton. Magazine is marked "1/6764" on the floor plate, no other markings. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster marked "cww", eagle swastika WaA 392, "1943", "P38" on back. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Good retaining most of its orig finish. Markings are clear. Excellent working order. Bore is worn with light pitting. Grips are fine with light handling marks. FINE PHOSPHATE MAUSER BYF44 P38 PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. MAUSER P38 5101d 9MM MODERN; C&R Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Marked on left side of slide "P.38", "byf/44", SN, "WaA135" inspected. Black grips. Matching SNs on frame, slide, and bbl. This gun is explained on pgs. 28 & 34, pictured p. 32 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. II by Warren Buxton. "P.38v/U WaA135" marked phosphate magazine. Accompanied by black leather clam shell holster. Marked on back "lyo", "1944", "P.38", inspector's mark is weak. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Fine condition retaining most of the orig phosphate finish. Markings are clear. Excellent bore with sharp rifling. Excellent working order. Grips are excellent with light handling marks.
