PAIR OF POLICE MARKED P-38 PISTOLS WITH HOLSTERS. WALTHER P38 246179 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Marked on left side of slide Walther banner, "Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm/Do."/eagle "N" proof/"P38 Cal.9mm". Marked on left trigger guard web "64", stag antler/eagle "N". Right side of slide marked with monogram "GNR" for Portuguese police issue. Eagle "N" proof on front of bbl. Alloy frame. Checkered black plastic grips. Magazine marked on bottom "MADE IN DENMARK". With spare grips and non-matching Walther cardboard box. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Good showing considerable carry wear. Minor dings, extremely light pitting and minor surface rust on bbl and slide. Frame shows considerable finish wear. All markings clear. Bore very good with strong rifling. SCARCE WALTHER MOD. HP P38 AUSTRIAN MARKED PISTOL WITH HOLSTER. WALTHER HP 15499 9MM MODERN; C&R; IMPORT Cal. 9mm. 5" bbl. Marked on left side of slide WALTHER inside a banner, "Waffenfabrik Walther, Zella-Mehlis (THUR)/Walther's Patent Cal. 9m/m", "Mod.HP". Eagle 359 German military proof on right side of slide along with commercial eagle N proof. Austrian eagle BH mark on left side of frame above trigger. "2.Kp" painted in yellow on front grip strap. Frame, bbl, and slide numbers are matching. "P.38v" marked magazine has a non-matching number lightly electric penciled into the spine. Brown Bakelite grips. This gun is described on pgs. 73 & 79, as well as photographed on p.78 of The P.38 Pistol, Vol. III by Warren Buxton. Accompanied by brown leather clam shell military style holster. PROVENANCE: The Esteemed Collection Of Noted Expert And Author Warren Buxton. CONDITION: Very good condition, retaining most of the orig finish with wear to the high points and light handling marks. Markings are clear. Bore has light pitting. Excellent working order. Grips show wear, hole in left grip. Magazine has pitting along the spine.
