BAVARIAN INFANTRY OFFICER'S HELMET MODEL 1897.

Black lacquered composite leather body with all gold metal trim. Helmet body with excellent form and firm stitching. Interior sweat leather and green silk head liner. Exterior leather with only mild surface crazing on front and back visor trim. All metal trim has fine fire gilding. Frontplate is the gold Royal Bavarian Heraldic arms. Top has Bavarian style cross spike base and fluted spike. Gold stars to retain spike. Rounded chinscales with Reichs and Bavarian cockades. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Near mint inside and out. Fire gilding shows virtually no wear. 51586-5 RT (2,000-2,500)
