CLOTH FIELD GRAY COVER WITH GREEN LETTER "R/241" FOR ENLISTED MAN.

Early WWI green cloth field cover for the 241st reserve regiment. Fitted to front and back visors with metal hooks. Numbers show mild mothing on "2" and "4". Unusual style spike vent on field cover. Field cover is mounted over a field gray leather enlisted man's helmet. Missing all trim but the spike and base. Leather liner of helmet extant, but rest of helmet is very dry and shrunken. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The Doug Buhler Collection of Rare and Spectacular German Imperial Headgear and Pickelhauben. CONDITION: Excellent inside and out. Helmet used only as mount for the field cover. 51586-54 RT (500-1,250)
