FLINTLOCK FULL STOCK PENNSYLVANIA RIFLE ATTRIBUTED TO G. F. FAINOT OF LANCASTER, PA.G.FAINOTF/L RIFLENSN56Cal. 56. The patchbox on this rifle is very distinctive and very similar to one by G. F. Fainot, illustrated on page 137 KENTUCKY RIFLE PATCHBOXES ... by Chandler. Rifle has 47" octagon to round bbl, and has an unmarked trade type flintlock in unfigured walnut full stock. Besides patchbox, brass furniture consists of beaded ramrod pipes, trigger guard with heavy acorn finial, heavy cast buttplate and sideplate, along with 8 pointed star on left side of butt. A silver crest plate is at top of grip. Being sold unreserved. CONDITION: Fair to good. Bbl cleaned to mostly bright over scattered pitting. Lock and bbl most likely re-converted. Stock has mottled appearance from cleaning, with numerous marks, rubs, and evidence of re-pinned bbl. Forend crack has old brass repair. Wood under metal. 51707-1 MGM59 (5,000-8,000)
