RARE BROWNING SUPERPOSED GRADE III 20 GAUGE SHOTGUN WITH "FIGHTING COCKS" ENGRAVING BY FUNKEN. BROWNING SP 6605 20 GAUGE MODERN; C&R Cal. 20 ga. 28" Special Steel bbl, chambers marked for 3". Chokes marked "IMP. CLY/MOD". Full length matted solid top rib with steel front bead. Nickel plated "SST", automatic ejectors, non-automatic safety. Well done replacement buttstock, checkered in 2-point pattern, is "RKLT" configuration with 14-1/8 LOP over Browning HRBP. Rnd nose forearm checkered in 5-point pattern with engraved release. Receiver is nicely engraved in typical early Grade III "Fighting Cocks" pattern by Funken with 4 pheasants on right in field and wood scene, 2 fighting cocks on left and retriever with fallen pheasant in mouth on bottom all surrounded by well executed scroll engraving. Receiver signed by Funken on both sides. All visible SNs match. Weight: 6lbs 8oz. CONDITION: Very fine as restored. Bbls retain nearly all of an expert quality restored blue finish. Custom buttstock and forearm are excellent quality replacements and retain nearly all of their custom finish. Buttplate is very good, very slightly undersized with minor craquelure. Receiver retains nearly all of its restored French greyed finish. Mechanics are fine. Bores are bright and shiny. This is an extremely rare Superposed. 52472-2 JSL (7,000-10,000)
