WINCHESTER 2ND MODEL 1866 SADDLE RING CARBINE. WINCHESTER 1866 CARBINE 15315 44RF Cal. 44 RF. 20" bbl, full magazine, blue finish with gun metal receiver. Saddle ring is attached. Straight grain American stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl has 2-line Henry's Patent address in front of rear sight. Bbl shows standard carbine sights. SN is stamped on the left lower inside of the tang, the receiver is otherwise unmarked. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube show a smooth grey/brown patina that is slightly mottled. Sights are good. Bbl address is faint but legible. Magazine tube is slightly short and may be a replacement from long ago. Bbl band has been cleaned to a silver/grey patina. Receiver shows an even mustard yellow patina overall with sharp edges and a few minor dents. Hammer and lever are grey/brown patina. Loading gate shows traces of blue. SN mark is clear. Stocks are good, slightly undersized and show an old re-varnished finish. Upper tang screw is a replacement. 4-pc steel cleaning rod is in the butt. Bore is frosty with strong rifling. Mechanics are very good. An opportunity to obtain an early 1866 saddle ring carbine in above average condition. 52093-7 TEP (7,000-9,000)
