ANTIQUE WINCHESTER 1ST MODEL 1886 OCTAGON BARREL RIFLE.WINCHESTER1886347445-90WCFCal. 45-90 WCF. 26" oct bbl, full magazine, blue and case colored finish, straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent buttplate. Bbl has Winchester address rolled in front of rear sight with Cal. designation at breech of bbl. Front sight is a modern replacement, rear sight is standard semi-buckhorn. Upper tang receiver is marked "MODEL 1886" bracketed by dashes. SN is stamped on lower tang under lever. Patent dates also appear under lever. Lever exhibits 1st Type lever latch located on left side of lever. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl and magazine tube both show a mottled grey/brown patina with some dents and scratches overall. Rear sight is very good. Markings are sharp. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Receiver is a silver/grey mottled patina overall with slight traces of case color remaining. Bolt shows traces of blue. Hammer and lever are both a silver/grey patina. Hammer has a hint of case color remaining. Markings are sharp. There is an extra plugged hole on the top of tang. Stocks are very good, slightly undersized and were cleaned and varnished long ago. Buttplate is a blue/brown patina. Buttplate was bent at the toe and was reshaped and remounted. Toe is slightly bent. Forend cap is also a mottled brown patina. Mechanics functional. 52066-1 TEP (3,000-5,000)
