RARE PAIR OF MID-19TH CENTURY POMMEL HOLSTERS.Survival on pommel holsters are scarce and this is a decent brown leather set with tarred, water-proofed covers. Holsters can accommodate various sgl-shot flintlock or percussion military pistols including U.S. Models 1826 through 1842. One holster has covered area of 4 tins for cartridges and opposite side has implement pouch for flints or caps. CONDITION: Very good as restored with re-sewing in areas, but complete with girth strap and removable tabbed covers. No discernible markings, but leather overall sound and supple with some reductions and tears. One holster is darker than the other, but displays nicely.
