BRITISH FLINTLOCK SADDLE RING CARBINE, CIRCA 1800.UNKNOWNCAVALRY CARBINENSN65Cal. 65. 34-1/2" overall, 19-7/8" bbl with fixed front sight and short front blade. English commercial proofs on left breech, lockplate marked with crown and "GR" forward of hammer and "ALLPORT" on tail. Brass mounted other than iron J-shaped saddle ring bar. Based on proofs, gun is most likely a Napoleonic era Yeomanry weapon or carbine of a Volunteer unit. CONDITION: Very good overall. Appears orig and complete with exception of replaced hammer screw. Bbl retains thinning brown finish, lock is cleaned and grey/bright, brass has been cleaned with light mustard patina. Stock is sound with cosmetic blemishes expected after 200 years, well fit. Stock and top of buttplate are stamped "S.EDGE". Mechanically functional with pitted clear bore. 52178-2 JS (2,000-3,000)
