BEAUTIFUL DEEP LUSTROUS BLUE FINISH FLEMING REGISTERED WINCHESTER WWI ERA MODEL 1918 BAR (FULLY TRANSFERABLE).FLEMING1918 BAR7224630-06one 20 rnd magMODERN; NFACal. 30-06. 30-7/8" bbl with correct WWI vintage flash hider. Simply a superb restoration of a WWI vintage Model 1918 Browning machine rifle (B.A.R.). White filled markings stand out on top of receiver which accentuates ordnance flaming bomb proof marks as well as correct "W" marked bbl with ordnance bomb proof and dated "10-18". Ordnance proof also visible forward of rear sight base. Top of receiver SN is the only visible number. The Browning automatic rifle was designed and intended to provide "walking fire" for American troops. This version is select fire which allows for only semi and full auto fire in addition to the safety position. Although receiver markings indicate manufacture by Winchester, this gun has been registered by Fleming as fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4. This is an National Firearms Act item and require BATF approval prior to transfer. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish extremely fine. 98% or better top quality professional deep, lustrous blue re-finish with perfect checkered wood forearm and buttstock. It is only upon the closest discerning examination that one can find the occasional strike mark or pin prick under this re-finish. "N.S." marked bolt in the white with blued interior of receiver and near 100% finish within magazine well. Front sight is a slightly plum color due to metallurgical hardness upon re-finish. Magazine is consistent with rest of firearm finish. Mechanics are crisp. Bore is very good with some shine and some light to moderate pitting. Finding a 1918 Browning automatic rifle made by Winchester is a rare treat. Finding one that was actually made before WWI ended adds to the value of this find. 53165-6 JWK (30,000-50,000)
