Attractive 1928 A1 Thompson machine gun with unmarked Cutts compensator with Bridgeport address and right hand side mounted sling swivel on a vertical handgrip. Buttstock assembly is from a later model gun and has aluminum attachment hardware. Upper and lower assemblies SNs match however, lower is a renumber. Savage marked bbl with "S" visible on left side. Includes one contemporary, new in the box 50 rnd drum mag without any markings on backside. This is a National Firearms Act item and requires BATF approval prior to transfer. This weapon is fully transferable on an ATF form 3 or form 4 as Curio & Relic eligible. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine as completely refinished with some areas of discernible light pitting visible with a somewhat more moderate recess where the bbl fits into the frame at the 4 o'clock position. Bbl index mark is slightly off. Wood is extremely fine with some slight handling marks to buttstock. Mechanics are crisp. Action is extremely smooth. Bore is extremely fine, shiny and bright. The Savage mfg "Bridgeport" era Thompson machine guns are widely held to be the most durable of all mfg Thompsons. This specimen although refinished, represents the iconic, attractive Thompson silhouette and without doubt would be a very smooth firing, comfortable machine gun at the range. A great gun to provide many years of enjoyment into the future. 53236-1 JWK (15,000-20,000) W/DRUM MAG
