EXCEEDINGLY RARE PARKER CHE 28 GAUGE SKEET SHOTGUN.PARKERCHE24221928GAMODERN; C&R; ESACal. 28 ga. 28" ventilated rib fluid steel bbl with ivory front bead. 00 frame with bbl flats marked with SN, "SKEET IN/SKEET OUT" and un-struck bbl weight of 3 lbs 2 ozs. Left side of bbl lugs marked "C GRADE 28 GA/FOR 2 7/8" SHELLS". Proper reinforced forend lug. Nickel plated Parker single selective triggers, Automatic ejectors, non-auto safety. Buttstock is checkered in typical late Remington pattern with unusual semi-capped pistol grip and is of flame grained American walnut, with 13-3/8" LOP from rear position single trigger over original engraved skeleton buttplate. Silver oval near toe. Beaver tail forearm with engraved Deeley release checkered in standard CHE pattern. Action is fabulously engraved likely by Runge, with scroll engraving on sides with setter on point on left side and pointer on point on right. Bottom of action with flying pheasant in wood scene surrounded by well-cut Runge executed scroll engraving and marked "PARKER" on bottom surrounded by more scroll. Fences are scroll engraved as is top lever which has proper cyanide case hardening. Trigger guard with burst of scroll at bow framed with zig-zag border pattern and finishing with scroll engraving, SN in wave and scroll pattern at tang. Bore diameter: left - .552, right – .552. Bore restrictions: left – .003 right – .002. Wall thickness: left – .035, right – .032. Drop at heel: 2-3/8", drop at comb: 1-1/2". Weight: 6 lbs 11 ozs. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain nearly all of the factory blue likely having been restored by Remington a few years after manufacture (overload proof stampings have been hand engraved). Buttstock and forearm are extremely fine as restored, likely during its very early life. Checkering appears factory and quite crisp and there is almost no doubt that the work done to the wood and bbls was performed by Remington. Action retains virtually all of its late Remington case color which is bold and vivid. Top lever is cyanide case colored, as is forearm iron which is proper for an Ilion mark gun of this vintage. Trigger guard retains approximately 90% original blue starting to flake on bow and with minor toning at grip. Bores are brilliant and shiny and breechface appears with only minor ejector scrapes. This gun has seen very little use. Mechanics are crisp. Unquestionably the finest CHE 28 ga skeet gun we have ever offered and one of only 3 or 4 Parkers ever made in this configuration. According to the Parker story there were only 5 "C" grades made with 28" Acme bbls. A fabulous investment opportunity for an American sporting shotgun collector. 52920-6 JSL (75,000-110,000)
