INCREDIBLE BLUED WINCHESTER 1873 .22 SHORT OCTAGON BBL RIFLE.WINCHESTER187330593722SCal. 22 Short. 24-3/8" oct bbl marked "22 Short" on top of bbl flat next to receiver. No P-W proof marks. Standard markings on top flat of bbl "Winchester Repeating Arms, New Haven Connecticut USA" followed by "Kings Improvement Patent March 29.1866, Oct.16.1860". Pain walnut stock and forend with crescent buttplate. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Records Office research sheet confirming the rifles configuration and shipped Oct. 30, 1889. PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very fine. Mag tube slightly toning to dark plum. 96% blue remains on nose cap. Left and right sides of receiver 98% blue remains with very subtle light scratches with no discoloration at all. Cartridge lifter with beautiful mustard color and 22CAL with Short underneath. Screw heads are all perfect. Dust cover is 98% blue. Case color on hammer is strong 98%. Trigger is darkened somewhat but still retains case colors, slightly muted. Buttplate retains majority of case colors, not vivid but very evident. Wood is very fine, with 96-98% orig condition on stock. Scattered light to moderate handling marks, otherwise beautiful showing orig orange colored finish. All screw heads are aligned perfectly. Bore is excellent with very strong rifling. Mechanics are fine. 53091-140 MS (30,000-40,000)
