GROUP OF 5 19TH CENTURY MILITARY CANTEENS.

1) 7-1/4" x 3" American "War of 1812 era" wooden drum canteen with integral octagonal wood spout, maker marked "E.ARENTS". 2) 7" x 4" wooden drum canteen, British with broad arrow proof dated "1859" painted blue. 3) 7-1/4" x 2-1/2" Confederate cedar wood, nicely carved "11TH MS / REG / 17". Cork and metal plug. 4) 8" Model 1858 bullseye US regulation canteen with painted battle scene of soldier helping wounded man with his canteen. Linen sling with Japanned buckle, orig stopper still tied in place. 5) 8" Civil War canteen converted for Spanish American era use, with 1904 dated Rock Island Arsenal strap, canvas cover with "U.S." stamped. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: Very good overall, painting on 4) has numerous chips and reductions, but still discernible. 53094-178 JS (2,000-2,500)
