TWO RARE REGULATION US WWII ERA REGIMENTAL FLAGS, 741ST TANK BATTALION, 13TH REGIMENT US CAVALRY.1) 50" x 36" plus 2" fringe double applique embroidered silk design on green synthetic blend field. The 741st Tank Battalion was active 1942-1945. The Battalion participated throughout Northern Europe until the end of the war and was one of 5 tank battalions that landed in Normandy on D-Day. Their distinctive green and white unit insignia with crossed swords and Griffin heads are found on the American eagle's shield with the motto above "STRENUE ET AUDACTER". The full unit designation is found on riband below "741ST TANK BATTALION". 2) 49" x 35" plus 2-1/2" hand sewn silk fringe. Multi-colored silk embroidery is double applique on a yellow synthetic field. Patriotic American eagle holds ribbon in its beak with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" below sun rays with 13 stars. Riband below eagle "13TH REGIMENT U.S. CAVALRY". 2" hoist has sewn leather tabs for attachment at either end. The 13th US Cavalry had continued service from 1901 to date.In 1940, the 13th Cavalry Regiment was designated 13th Armored Division, seeing service in North Africa. This flag probably pre-dates this 1940 transition. SIZE: PROVENANCE: The spectacular collections of Ray Bentley featuring the finest and rarest deluxe antique Winchesters in the world. CONDITION: 1) Good to very good. Silk embroidery and fringe are quite fine and complete. Field has numerous small tears and cracks that do not affect overall aesthetics. The 2-1/2" hoist still retains its reinforced linen core. 2) Good to very good overall, great colors, silk embroidery and fringe are fine and complete, field has numerous small tears and reductions.
