EXQUISITE FLINTLOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE MADE BY CONTEMPORARY MASTER JOHN BIVENS.J BIVENSKENTUCKYTBD50Cal. 50. 60" overall with 44" slightly swamped oct bbl with inset silver cartouche at breech "IB". Gun is brass mounted on beautiful piece of tiger striped maple, set triggers. Silver thumbplate has script "JB". Gun is beautifully raised and incised carved with silver wire inlays. This is an exquisite example by one of the best known contemporary Kentucky makers of the 1960's & 70's who is also well known for his 1968 text Long Rifles of North Carolina. Bivens studied under Wallace Gussler and his long rifles are highly sought. CONDITION: Extremely fine overall. Mechanics are crisp and bright shiny bore. 53121-1 JS (3,000-5,000)
