AFGHAN BOKHARA RUG TOGETHER WITH A HAMADAN ORIENTAL RUG.1) Early 20th century, Turkmenistan. With three rows of seven guls of typical form on a brick-red ground within a main border of Leshgi stars flanked by star and diamond shaped guard borders. 2) Early 20th century, western Persia. The polled medallion of geometric design on a wine-red field with geometric devices with a main border of flower heads and trellis work. The camel guard borders with ribbon trellis work. SIZE: 1) 4' 2" x 6' 2". 2) 4' 3" x 6' 11". PROVENANCE: From an unreserved Corea, ME collection. CONDITION: 1) Even wear throughout. Small areas of wear to foundation. Loss of fringe at each end. Damage to selvage with reweave at one corner. 2) Retaining strong palate. Normal and expected even wear throughout. No exposure of foundation. Loss to fringe at one end.
