THREE COBALT BLUE DECORATED STONEWARE PITCHERS AND A JUG.The first an unmarked large stoneware milk pitcher with banded rim and pinched spout. With two incised line decorations around the midpoint. Adorned with a central stylized tulip, the petals and leaves with squiggle decoration. The second a "J & E. NORTON BENNINGTON VT" jug of unidentified size, probably two gallon. Incised markings above a freehand bird perched on a branch in cobalt blue. Together with two 20th century unmarked examples; a pitcher and a tankard with pewter lid, each in a grey clay and freehand decorated fruit amongst scrolling leaves and cobalt banding on tops and bases. SIZE: Milk pitcher: 10-1/4" h. Jug: 11-1/4" h. Small pitcher: 9-1/2" h. Tankard: 11-1/2" h. CONDITION: The first with a 3/4" shallow chip in the rim. Areas of discoloration in stoneware around base. Otherwise very good. The second with overall minor variations in color of undecorated stoneware. A small burst firing bubble on wing of bird. Otherwise very good. The pitcher and tankard with minor and minimal in-use wear, very good overall. 52938-1 HMG (900-1,400)
