EARLY AMERICAN BANISTER BACK ARMCHAIR.Early 19th century New England. The scrolling crest rail in the Gothic taste above four split banister splats, the block- and baluster-turned stiles headed by turnip finials joined to horizontal arms with rolled grips on turned supports centering woven trapezoidal seat raised on block- and spool-turned frontal legs and square rear legs joined by a cylindrical double box stretcher. SIZE: 46" h (overall), 17" h (seat) x 23-1/2" w. PROVENANCE: Contents of a lifetime collection "Brook Crossing," South Pomfret, VT. CONDITION: Mellow honey-brown color.
