29" OU barrels are entirely milled from one block of steel including integral ventilated rib, side ribs, loop, and Boss style fillets for forend. Left side of top barrel is marked "John Wilkes, Colo Spgs CO". "John Wilkes, London" is on right. Bottom of breech section is stamped with serial number, GH in a circle, and W0014 (15 were produced in this series). No proofs or other markings are present. Coin finished low profile OU action features non-automatic safety (SAFE inlaid in gold), engraved line tumbler end cocking indicators, and single non-selective trigger. Water table is engraved "Special Series" and with serial number. Specially designed coil spring sidelocks remove by pushing out headless pin through small access hole in left lockplate exposing a torex screw head in right lock. Action is engraved with very finely cut interwoven strap work in a field of large shaded scroll. This unusual and pleasing design is the work of Barry Lee Hands, noted American engraver, whose signature is on trigger plate. Sides of action are engraved "John Wilkes"which also appears on bottom over "London". Single beaded small bow trigger guard is scroll engraved to match. Dramatically marbled and nicely fiddle figured flesh-toned European walnut round knob pistol grip buttstock measures 14 - 5/8" over checkered wood butt. Nicely cut point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching field one piece forend has Anson type release. Gun comes with a blue plastic Beretta case. CONDITION: Excellent, close to new, appears unfired, with only a very few light handling marks in all finishes. Under ejector won't set. These guns retailed at over $30,000.00. MGM 223
