(ca 1953) 22" Medium weight barrel fitted with sleeved on rear island base holding one standing, one folding leaf express sight, partially sleeved on sling eye, and front ramp fitted with H&H type folding sight protector with silver bead. Barrel has been ported. Top of barrel is engraved "Holland & Holland. 98. New Bond Street, London." Rear portion is engraved "Holland's" "."375 "MAGNUM"" "Rimless" "Cartridge" ""HYKRO" Steel". Standard length Model 98 Mauser action has had G & H side mount installed. Bolt with turned down handle has shroud fitted with Buehler safety. Aluminum drop box bottom metal has hinged floorplate engraved "4 Cartridges" retained by button in trigger guard bow which is engraved with serial number. Rifle takes down with coin slotted front guard screw. Barrel and action lift out. Somewhat figured European walnut pistol grip stock measures 14 - 1/4" over old Pachmayr pad and features right hand cheekpiece, recoil bolt, classically styled point pattern checkering, with a vacant silver oval and sling eye on toe line. Steel grip cap has trap containing spare front sight. CONDITION: Fair to good. Barrel and action have most of an old re-blue. Bottom metal has some original lacquer. Stocks have traces of some original finish under considerable grime, with many knocks, dents, and bumps. Bore is dirty, but appears to be very fine. Action is smooth.
