(1985) 25" Chopper lump barrels are fitted with narrow Churchill ribs gold inlaid "25" and "1" or "2" denoting a pair. Tops of barrels are engraved with makers name and address along with "FOR J. ROBERTS & SON. KING ST LONDON." Barrel flats are stamped with 1985 Spanish nitro proofs. Barrel sets are fitted with H&H type self-opening assist springs. Case hardened sidelock actions feature automatic safeties, disc set strikers, gold band tumbler end cocking indicators, gas vents, and double triggers (fronts articulated). Engraving on these guns corresponds to today's English scroll model, with near full coverage well cut medium scroll. Lockplates are engraved "MADE FOR" "J. ROBERTS & SON". "PEDRO" "ARRIZABALAGA" "EIBAR" is on bottom of actions. Single beaded trigger guards are gold inlaid "25" on bows. Serial numbers are on tangs. Both guns have straight grip stocks of European walnut, that measure 15" over checkered wood butts, and have standard drop points, point pattern checkering, and gold ovals with monogram "HC". Gun "1" has dark marbled and lightly figured walnut whereas gun "2" has nicely streaked walnut with eye-catching fiddle figure. Matching splinter ejector forends have Anson releases. Guns are housed in tan canvas two gun case by Brady with leather trim. Case is lined with burgundy cloth and has paper J. Roberts & Son label in lid. Case contains some cleaning equipment with J. Roberts marked round oil bottle. CONDITION: Excellent with evidence of moderate field use. All metal parts show light hand wear with marks and scratches, and silvering on high edges. Trigger guards show most wear with grips considerably silvered. There are numerous marks both light and heavy in stocks, checkering lightly worn. Bores are excellent. Mechanically excellent. Case is very fine with some fading and marks and scuffs in exterior. Straps and handle are good. Interior is fine. Label is excellent. Pedro Arrizabalaga makes "best quality" guns only, and current retail for a single English scroll model is approximately $28,000.00. MGM 106
