Heer SD M40 brush applied two-color camouflage helmet in overall very good condition. Helmet has the correct "ET" decal, which is in approximately 90% condition, with the lacquered finish remaining on the undamaged areas. Decal has not been "liberated", and the brush applied camouflage paint has been carefully applied around the decal, with some very light overlap on the right side. Shell is maker/ size marked "SE64" with a lot number of "587", and the rank/ name of "Gefr. Knips". Name is era applied on the inside right rim area, in white paint. Helmet retains 85-90% of its original era applied 2-color brush applied camouflage paint, in the colors of medium green and light brown. The light brown camo is applied in 13 irregular stripes. Camouflage exhibits natural wear patterns, and most of the wear is on top and around the rim. Areas of wear display the original base gray-green paint. Liner is in good condition with damage from wear throughout. Liner is dry and fragile, and has five inches of separation around the edge, and the original drawstring has pulled through five of the leather tongues. Liner has not been removed or replaced, its three rivets and liner pins are untouched. Rear rivet has approximately 40% is its surface covered by camo paint, and the two front rivets have only tiny specks of camo paint remaining. Worn areas on the rivets present their original semi-gloss gray-green paint. The inside rim and flange retain 75% of its original finish, and the inside crown has an even patina. A very nice untouched combat helmet with an unusual camouflage paint pattern.
