Other than engraving you will find fewer special order Model 1866 models than any other Winchester made after this model as they were almost all standard configuration. Features the rare 28" full octagon barrel, full magazine, thin knife blade front sight, single stem folding long range sight, brass frame, forend cap and rifle buttplate; and walnut stocks. CONDITION: Barrel and tube are a soft, rich chocolate patina with some high edge wear on right side of barrel near hanger. Sharp edges and legends. Brass has beautifully aged, smooth appearance; not splotchy. Screw heads are nice. Flash of case color on hammer. Lever has darkened out. Walnut stock is perfectly fitted, not proud to metal but flush. Stock is excellent with usual bumps and bruises, nothing distracting. Bore has extremely well defined sharp rifling with some frosted grooves and minor abrasion. Far better than most. Quite simply, this is a beautiful rifle with the never seen extra length barrel.
