Beautiful full deluxe Winchester 1892 Saddle Ring carbine chambered for the 25-20 WCF cartridge. 20 inch round barrel with 1/2 magazine. Mounted with "XX" center crotch shell grain American walnut with "H" style checkered forearm and capped checkered pistol grip stock with checkered steel butt plate. Left side of lower tang is marked 21225XXS. Matching assembly number is found on rear face of buttstock beneath butt plate. Factory installed sling eyes are found at front band and on butt stock. Tang is mounted with Improved Lyman Tang sight with locking lever. Barrel is mounted with Winchester scope blocks with proof to rear of block and is fully visible. Mounted with off-set Winchester base extensions is a Factory Winchester B-4 rifle scope. Case colored hammer and lever. This possibly one of kind special order Deluxe carbine is accompanied by a letter from the Buffalo Bill Historical center documenting the full configuration of this rifle and states as follows. Model 1892 , Serial number applied May 27 1905. Carbine, Caliber 25-20 , Checkered stock, Pistol Grip . Sights, Winchester telescope B-4, Lyman Improved rear#1A, Lyman front. Smokeless. 1/2 Magazine, Shotgun Butt , Screw Eyes . Received in warehouse March 03, 1910 . Shipped warehouse March 04, 1910. This Winchester Deluxe carbine has been retained by the original purchasers family from its date of purchase in 1910 until this time of offering. CONDITION. Extremely fine overall. Barrel retains over 97% original applied factory blue finish with several minute spots of finish loss 4 inches from muzzle on left side. A minor trace of edge wear is evident at leading edges of muzzle. Receiver retains over 97% factory blue finish with slight edge wear at balance point and several minor scratches to left and right side of receiver. The typical shadow of finish loss is evident from the movement of the saddle ring, however this remains at a minimum. High point edge wear is evident and consistent with age. Bore is bright with sharp rifling. Hammer and lever are very good with strong case colors remaining. Wood is superb with a few very minor scratches and bruises and overall retains virtually all of its bright piano varnish finish. Checkered steel butt plate is very good and retains over 80% blue finish with typical loss at heel and points of checkering and edges. Checkering is sharp and very fine with minor use being evident. The Winchester B-4 telescope is externally excellent and retains over 95% of its original factory applied finish. The optics are very cloudy and need cleaning. Mechanics are crisp and in proper functioning order. This fully factory documented Special order Winchester 1892 is truly an opportunity to own one of Winchesters great rarities. TDW
