This is a copy of one of the Luger .45 ACP pistol as tested by the US military in 1907, manufactured by Karl Nebal in Austria and imported by Simpson LTD. This impressive pistol has a 5" barrel with a drift adjustable front sight and an unmarked toggle mechanism and rear link with a fixed rear sight. The serial number on forward frame 140449/NK. Just below are small importer markings. German proofs and caliber are under the barrel. There are no safety markings. Metal has been chemically aged to present a pleasing gray tone with usual small parts strawed and the extractor and grip screws fire blued. Fitted with finely checkered walnut panels. Magazines with in-the-white bodies and era correct walnut plugs secured with a single transverse pin. Complete in a French fitted wooden case, lined in dark purple felt, compartmentalized for pistol, box of ammo (not present), and spare magazine. CONDITION: Excellent plus with only the most minute sharp edge wear. Grips are oil darkened with slightly blunted checkering, negligible losses. Comparable condition magazines. A very impressive .45 caliber luger, closely dimensioned to the original, for only a fraction of the cost! Provenance from the Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin collection from Germany.
