The Winchester 1893 is one of the most uncommon firearms Winchester ever produced to be found in fine condition. The Riot variation is rarely ever found in any condition. This example is the finest one we have ever observed, manufactured July 10 1894 and shipped with a 20 inch barrel. The entire production is believed to be approximately 31000 total. Winchester discovered that these guns had internal weakness and agreed to replace them with the model 1897. Most of the production was later destroyed by the Factory. The standard model had a 30 inch barrel of either steel or Damascus upon request. Hard rubber butt plates were standard but a steel butt was available upon special order. According to the Winchester collectors forum there is a total of 645 Riot guns produced. This documented example has a 20 inch barrel with two line Winchester address. Brass bead front sight with chamber marked 12. Operating slide is marked "WINCHESTER MODEL 1893" Mounted with 17 groove forearm and round knob pistol gripped Butt with steel butt plate. CONDITION, Excellent with over 97% blue finish on the barrel and equal amounts on the frame and butt plate. The factory varnished walnut stocks have several minor storage rubs and scratches but are the best we have ever seen. The bore is spotless , Bright and with out issues. The action is crisp and properly functioning. This gun is the second of a consecutive pair recently discovered and is being offered for the first time. TDW
