Unbelievably early Erfurt Model 1883 with standard features having a 4.5 inch octagonal/round barrel, fixed front sight, and notched rear sight. Caliber 10.6 marked on left upper chamber flat. Left flat marked with Prussian eagle, followed by the number "7" that is repeated on the left side of the frame, cylinder axle, cylinder, sideplate, and on virtually all the externally visible small parts. In front of forcing cone is the military acceptance. Sideplate bears the usual crown/Erfurt marking with safety lever at rear. Smooth grips secured with a single transverse screw through a pair of escutcheons. Rotating lanyard ring at base. CONDITION: Most of the original finish has faded to a mellow mixed grey-brown tone. Surprisingly, the bore is mirror bright with sharp rifling. Excellent manual mechanics. An extraordinarily early and all matching Erfurt military 1883 Reichrevolver, well suited to any collection of World War One arms.
