Of a total production of almost 2,700 L.C. Smith single barrel trap guns, only 56, or just over 2%, were of "Eagle" grade. This example has a 34" barrel with ventilated rib engraved "L.C. SMITH Eagle TRAP" on left side of breech end. Bottom of barrel is stamped with serial number, grade, and nitro steel logo. Case hardened single shot action with rotary bolt is engraved in usual "Eagle" style with relief flying pheasant on left side, and duck on right. An eagle, wings lifting in anticipated flight, is perched on top lever pivot. Trigger guard with scroll on bow has serial number on tang. Boldly stump figured American walnut capped pistol grip buttstock measures 13-7/8" over Morgan trap pad. Side panels are checkered as is grip. Matching schnabeled ejector forend has typical J-spring and knurled wheel secondary release in guitar shaped escutcheon. CONDITION: Very fine, as partially refinished. Barrel retains approximately 80% original blue. Action retains approximately 50% original case hardening color. Stock has nearly all oil refinish, checkering re-cut. Bore is very fine with some scratches. Action is a bit loose with forend removed, but tight and on face with forend installed. Ejector is a bit weak.
