Black wool-covered pressed-cork body has no breakage and all components are as prescribed for the Model 1881 dress helmet. Deluxe eagle plate with applique crossed signal flags surmounted with a shield affixed to the front of the helmet. Interior with brown leather sweatband and red cotton lining. Gold cords, leather backed chin chains and orange horse hair plume are present. Included is the original spike, both spike and plume holder are of the twist-off variety. Helmet enclosed in black painted metal carrying case with ill fitting lid. CONDITION: Helmet is in very good condition showing minor wear and toned fittings. From the Ray Bentley Collection.
