This gun has been reconverted to flintlock from percussion at some point, utilizing both original and reproduction parts. Matching 1839 dates on the lock and breech plug tang. US marked on buttplate with illegible inspectors cartouche just before buttplate tang. Cartouche on the left side of the stock appears to have been removed. Button ram rod. Accompanied by a "WL/US" marked bayonet. CONDITION: Good as obviously reconverted. Deep pitting on top of barrel around weld where the nipple was located. Discoloration on barrel from heat and chemically applied patina. Markings are clear. Frizzen spring is weak, otherwise lock is in good working order. Bore is dark with pitting. Stock is good with dings and handling marks. Bayonet retains a pleasing patina overall with clear sharp markings.
