This Auto Ordnance West Hurley machine gun includes three 30 round magazines and two contemporary 50 round drums. These Thompsons produced in West Hurley, NY were the last to be manufactured and sold for private ownership prior to the Firearm Owner’s Protection Act being passed by Congress in 1986. The early West Hurley produced guns utilized Savage produced parts which were remaining on hand from WW2 military contracts. As these parts were used up then new parts were made to complete the guns. One can see the progression over time with a general correlation to the guns serial numbers. CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is extremely fine original lustrous blue finish throughout with some slight of handling marks, and thinning to gray patina particularly where charging handle rides in the receiver. Wood is likewise extremely fine with some light handling marks. Magazines and drums are very fine with lustrous blue finish. Bore is extremely fine to near excellent shiny and bright with some firing residue. Bolt also extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. An extremely nice a specimen of an iconic American classic. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER.
