Offered is a very early European copy of the famous Winchester Model 1873 carbine. It is very similar in overall appearance. The front sight is integral with the barrel band, like a first model Winchester. The rear sight is a double folding blade similar to Winchester 1866/73. Has a larger than Winchester 1st Model oval print dust cover. Fully checkered hammer. Typical Winchester type walnut forend with carbine buttstock. Buttplate is a Winchester style trapdoor. There is no saddle ring. CONDITION: Originally manufactured, finished in blue where all metal is currently a dark chocolate patina. Wood is proud to metal and in excellent condition. Left side of buttstock has an engraved brass nameplate with "Ernest De Sohoeneusky" on it. We are not 100% sure of spelling due to wear. The only markings on the gun is the barrel, which is stamped "Henry Winchester Rifle Mod. 1873." Action works fine. Has a fairly strong, clean rifled bore. Also comes with sling swivels and early leather sling. If you collect Winchester Model 1873's, this would be an interesting addition to that collection as foreign copies, especially in good untouched condition, are rarely seen.
