German Schuetzen rifle in the target caliber of 8.15 x 46R made by "Jos Maier" in "Bruchsal" Germany. Rifle has a 1" silver plate mounted on the left rear area of the stock, with the name "Otto Oppenheimer" as well as "Bruchsal" engraved on it. A short biography of him is included with the rifle. Otto was born in Bruchsal, Germany on September 7, 1875 and died on February 8, 1951 in the Bronx, New York. Rifle is a "system Martini" type, and includes the original rear diopter sight, adjustable for both windage and elevation. The front sight is a post World War II US diopter sight made by Redfield, which is adjustable for windage at its base. Rifle has functional dual set triggers and its original sporting style sling swivels. CONDITION: Overall excellent. Barrel retains more than 90% of its original blued finish, with thinning in some areas. Receiver retains 65-70% of its case hardened finish, and the buttplate retains about 80%. Trigger guard and trigger assembly retain approximately 50% of its case hardened finish, with areas of thinning and light freckling to about 30% of those areas. Bore is excellent and bright and shiny, and the walnut target stock is excellent with the usual scattered dings.
