This Army & Navy Shotgun was manufactured by the famed W.C. Scott of London. The Army & Navy stores did not make any firearms, but did procure various arms from various makers, marked with their address and unique serial number for sale to members of the British Armed Services. This utility quality gun has 30" dovetailed steel barrels with narrow, slightly swamped game rib engraved "Army & Navy C S Ld London". Barrel flats are stamped with Birmingham nitro proofs for 2-1/2" chambers. Case hardened top lever action with back spring sidelocks features automatic safety, crossbolt third fastener, and double triggers. Action and lockplates are engraved with line borders; Lockplates with "A & N. C. S. Ld". Serial number is on trigger guard tang. Lightly marbled and figured European walnut straight grip buttstock measures 15-1/4" over 5/8" thick hard rubber buttplate which appears to be original. Flat topped point pattern checkering is at grip. Matching splinter forend with shaped metal tip has sugar tong spring release. CONDITION: Very fine, mostly original, barrels retaining approximately 80% original blue, with numerous marks and light scratches. Importers name and address (Buckhorn Trading Post) is on left barrel. Action and locks retain about half of their original case hardening color. Stocks have most of what appears to be original oil finish with some added oil as maintenance. Checkering is slightly worn and rather dirty. Bores are very fine with some light striations, and some frosting. Action is tight. Barrels are on face. A solid gun with good dimensions. MGM 51
