The Remington action shows almost all of the brilliant case color under factory varnish and has now turned brownish. Remington Hepburn (mid-range) Creedmoors are very rare with just a handful reported. This example is a deluxe model and has deluxe features. Action is fitted with a single trigger. Buttstock is finely checkered with a pistol grip and deluxe hard rubber buttplate. The forearm is also finely checkered with an endcap featuring the deluxe hard rubber tip. 30" barrel, part octagon, is of number 4 weight and marked "E. Remington and Sons, Illion, New York" on top and 40-2.5 under forearm. Front sight is a Remington wind gauge with spirit level, rear sight is a Remington experimental with windage adjustable in the base. The rifle is in a period case and may be original. In the case is a hickory cleaning rod, Ideal bullet sizer, and an original .40 caliber Remington bullet mold, both tools in nearly new condition. Also in the case is a breech seater in .40-70, an old screwdriver, a Remington straightline seater marked 40-2.5 with a base marked 40, a Remington .40 caliber decapping punch, a Remington capper marked 40 with gold paint on one end, and a number of loaded and unloaded original cartridges. CONDITION: Action shows almost all of its brilliant case color under the varnish. Buttstock retains almost all of its original finish with a handful of very minor dents, scratches, etc., from handling. Forearm has a few minor chips in front of the action. Good action, excellent bore. A complete outfit like this in it's case is a tremendous rarity and almost never found. A wonderful outfit in almost unused condition. This rifle is shown on pages 140 and 141 of "Remington Hepburn" by Tom Rowe, complete with its case with initials from Philadelphia. TR
