This musket was the most widely used model by American troops during the Revolutionary War. The round barrel has a partially visible "D" stamp at the breech and is mounted on top of the muzzle with a bayonet lug. The flat lockplate has beveled edges and traces "Charleville" in the center. Additionally, there is a "D" with a star stamped behind the pan. Standard model 1766 iron furniture, side plate stamped vertically with a large "LH". Full length plain walnut stock of typical French form. Complete with original iron ramrod. CONDITION: Dark patinas overall. Barrel retains a dark patina, except for one area of the breech, which appears to have been filled. There is some corrosion at the breech and the lock is a very good professional re-conversion. Hardware retains a dark brown patina. Markings on lock are faint. Stock shows fairly heavy use, with repaired crack at rest, crack through butt, and other scattered cracks and marks from use. A nice Revolutionary War Charleville with a great "as found" appearance.
