Very attractive example of iconic German MP-40 machine gun. Barrel is a non-matching Steyr manufactured (Serial number 1527 d), but lower and receiver are matching C.G. Haenel with Mertz Werke stamped receiver with Nazi eagle proofs. Lower assembly is marked MP-40 and “fxo” (Haenel) and was manufactured in 1942. Bolt is serial number 6803 r. Included with this lot is a magazine loader, four original Nazi marked and four unmarked 32 round magazines, and a high quality leather magazine pouch. Also included is book “The MP38, 40, 40/1 and 41 Submachine gun Vol II" by Special Interest Publications. Professionally installed select-fire thumbpiece on left side of receiver. Cannot determine when this retrofit occurred but it is unique in this cataloger’s experience and a great idea! CONDITION: Overall appearance and finish is near excellent lusterous blue refinish with some barely discernible handling marks. Attractive bakelite furnishings with just a few very light handling marks. Bore is very fine with clean strong rifling and some light frosting in the grooves. Bolt face extremely fine. Mechanics are crisp. This is a select fire machine gun. THIS IS A NATIONAL FIREARMS ACT ITEM AND REQUIRES BATF APPROVAL PRIOR TO TRANSFER. THIS ITEM IS FULLY TRANSFERABLE ON AN ATF FORM 3 OR 4 AS CURIO AND RELIC ELIGIBLE.
