1,001 carbines were manufactured in 1865 in Windsor, Vermont. Features one piece barrel and chamber stamped on top "Wm PALMER PAT DEC 22 1863". Side action dated 1865 and stamped "E.G. LAMSON & CO. WINDSOR VT". Hammer, trigger guard, and buttplate stamped with inspection "P". One piece wlanut stock stamped with rectangular cartouche "MM" Miles Moulton, in addition to the script cartouche this small "MM" can be found on the two of stock, left side of stock, and left side of barrel. Single leaf folding rear sight. Saddle ring and stud. CONDITION: Barrel assembly is a smooth, soft homogeneous mix of blue and patina, as is buttplate and action. Wood is excellent with just a few minor bruises. Bore is sharp and excellent. 0These carbines were delivered after the war ended and were therefore mostly used in Home Guard units.
