The Model 1860 was used by the U.S. Cavalry during the American Civil War until the end of the Indian Wars, with some being used during the Spanish-American War. (A) Manufactured by Tiffany. One side of riccasso marked with Tiffany markings, other side marked "P.D.L." in a cartouche. Leather grip wrapped in twisted brass wire. Has unusual steel hilt. Complete with steel scabbard. CONDITION: Blade retains grey patina, showing small scattered spotting. Leather grip shows some minor losses and wear, with spots of heavier wear marks towards the middle of the grip. Light corrosion along length of scabbard. (B) Manufactured by C. Roby. One side of ricasso marked with C. Roby markings, other side is marked "US/1864/A.G.M". Leather grip wrapped in twisted brass wire. Brass hilt. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade retains grey patina showing few small areas of spotting. Blade shows small knicks along the length of the blade. Leather grip shows mild surface wear all around. Scabbard shows light pitting all around. (C) Imported Soligen 1860 blade. One side of ricasso marked with Soligen and Lunesschloss markings. Other side marked "GF" with an eagle stamping. Leather grip wrap retains 60% of the twisted brass wire. Brass hilt. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade is in fair condition showing heavy corrosion along length of blade, with pitting at the top three inches of the blade. Brass hilt has turned a brown patina. Leather grip shows light surface wear with small areas of cracking. Brass wire has been nailed into grip and is missing close to a quarter of the wire at the bottom. Scabbard shows light corrosion and pitting. (D) Manufactured by C. Roby. One side of ricasso is marked C. Roby. Other side is marked "U.S./1865/A.G.M". Leather grip with twisted brass wire. Brass hilt. Complete with scabbard. CONDITION: Blade shows a good amount of spotting. Leather grip has areas of loss and shows multiple cracks. Steel scabbard has turned a grey/brown patina.
