This nice, large canister with original cap, now in black paint over original red and gold gilt decoration, features the number "27" within C-scrolls above "EPPS'S COCAINE COCOA-NIB EXTRACT" in uppercase, further marked for "JAMES EPPS & CO. LTD. EST. 1839, 170, PICADILLY, LONDON". This nicely decorated example would make a wonderful shelf piece. The canister is in very good condition overall, with light in-use abrasion and traces of original red paint showing beneath the black. Minor, shallow denting in the lid.
